xc Worm Farming

Tuesday, February 14, 2006

While there are worms being active in the top level, there seem to be quite a few still in the next level down. I have therefore decided to stop adding waste into the top layer for a while and to see how they get on, I'm hoping this will encourage (or enable!) the worms to get up to the upper most layer.

Hello
Your worms sound fine to me, but I would go steady, you may be slightly overfeeding. As long as there are some worms just below the surface all is well. They work all over the kit all the time rather than systematically moving from tray to tray so should be just fine. By the way if it is wet in there (you mentioned some mould) add extra dry material - cardboard is best. from Wigglys
